- 1954 Porsche 1500 Normal Cabriolet
-
- This gorgeous Pre-A Cabriolet, one of only 327 Cabs built
that year, left the factory in June of 1954 and was shipped to
Hoffman Motors in New York. It must have been quite a sight sitting
in the NYC Hoffman showroom back then, with it's deep Azure Blue
paint against the soft saddle interior and oatmeal carpets. Absolutely
stunning.
-
- It found its way to California early on and things were good,
as it was obviously well cared-for. The present owner purchased
this car eight years ago and most of that time has been spent
looking for parts and completing a full restoration. The correct
and very well done restoration was completed two years ago and
the car has now been driven a very enjoyable 1500 miles since.
-
- This rare Cabriolet has been finished to a very high standard
in all areas, there is not much to pick apart. It sports a correct
Telefunken radio, 16" wheels with non-radial tires, Hazet
round tool kit and period-correct license plates. The pictures
do a lot better job of describing this car than I can.
-
- I am not the only one that thinks this car is special; It
won 2nd in class at the 2009 Dana Point Concours, 1st in class
at the 2010 Dana Point Concours and another 1st in class at the
recent 2010 North Meets South event in San Luis Obisbo. More
important in my opinion, is the fact that this car was DRIVEN
those few hundred miles to and from each of these events. That
is a complete package.
-
- This special Cabriolet is being offered for sale at $140,000
USD, which is only slightly more than the true restorations costs.
